Valentine's Day

This year, like every year since I found Mr. Right - we went to South Lake Tahoe for Valentine's Day. I had this all planned out to be really romantic. With the new house, the kids, work, homework, animals, etc. Michael and I weren't making enough "US" time. So we were definitely ready to "get away." After the kids went with their custodial parents, we dropped Maggie and Pe'pe off at Top Gun Kennels. I don't know if you've ever needed to board your animals, but the folks there are great and we trust them fully with our little rascals. Michael had never been there, so to reassure him that our little angels were going to be okay, I asked the clerk if she could please show him where they would be staying so he could relax a little. With a wink and a smile, they went to the back and Michael came out with a little grin on his face. "Better?", I asked. Heehee. So then we are off to our little adventure. No cell phones (well we had them but they were off), no chores, no time line to be anywhere...we were both very much eager to enjoy the break. If you buy a house, you KNOW what I'm talking about...you want to do THIS to it and THAT to it...and everything cannot all get accomplished right when you want it to so you must have patience. So...as I was saying...we were ready for some R & R. On our way to Lake Tahoe, we were both a bit hungry, so we stopped at a casino in Silver Springs. Little dive looking at it, but the food was fabulous! After we ate, we got back on the road and headed towards Carson City. It was a nice day - not a lot of wind and the sun was out - yay! We arrive in South Lake Tahoe and the first thing we did was take a sleigh ride. Have you ever taken a sleigh ride in Lake Tahoe in the winter? It's beautiful! Also very romantic. We were pulled by a horse by the name of, "Beauty" and boy was she ever a beauty...all black with a gentle disposition. We had pictures taken and cuddled up in warm blankets on the sleigh with an older couple traveling through Tahoe. The ride was breathtaking and also educational. The view was the best part. I would definitely recommend it to anyone I knew was going to Tahoe. After that, we were off to find our little hideaway for the next 2 days. We stayed at the Ridge Tahoe. it was a bit pricey - but to be honest it was one of the best places we ever stayed. The view was spectacular from our 2 room suite. I have never looked at the top of a pine tree covered in snow before and you could see soooo many of them amongst the other lodges and skiiers. We slept in a "Sleep Number" bed. Either we didn't have a clue or it just plain sucked but that was the most uncomfortable bed I ever slept in in my life! It mde us miss our Tempure-Pedic we recently purchased. =( Good thing for massage therapists! Michael had a 1 hour deep tissue massage and I had my first professional facial. I loved it so much I took my nose ring out and don't have any plans to put it back in! We did some shopping for the kids and had some REALLY good food on the 18th floor of Harrah's and at Carrow's. We went to bed when we wanted and got up when we wanted. We didn't have to cook or even clean up after ourselves (although we did). We love Tahoe. It is so clean and fresh. So that was our Valentine's Day in a nutshell. If I could figure out how to post pictures on here, I would!
